Chemworld NexFrost™ HD Propylene Glycol Heat Transfer Fluid
Chemworld NexFrost™ HD is a high-performance, inhibited propylene glycol heat transfer fluid engineered for industrial cooling and heating systems where corrosion protection, freeze protection, and long service life are critical. Formulated with advanced corrosion inhibitors, antifoam additives, and dye for easy identification, Chemworld NexFrost™ HD delivers reliable thermal performance in demanding HVAC, snow-melt, solar, and process cooling applications.
Key Features & Benefits
- Inhibited propylene glycol formulation designed for closed-loop systems
- Excellent corrosion protection for common system metals
- Protects cast iron, carbon steel, copper, and brass (up to 325°F)
- Protects aluminum components (up to 190°F)
- Meets corrosion performance expectations per ASTM D1384 (ASTM D3306 limits)
- Dyed for easier leak detection and system identification
- Non-regulated for transport (DOT / IATA / IMDG)
Typical Applications
- HVAC chilled water and heating loops
- Snow-melt systems and runways
- Ice rinks and refrigeration brine systems
- Solar thermal energy collection systems
- Industrial heat exchangers and process cooling
Dilution & Use
Chemworld NexFrost™ HD is intended to be diluted with water based on required freeze protection. Typical working concentrations are 20%-60% by weight. A 50% solution provides freeze protection to approximately -25°F (-32°C).
Always follow equipment manufacturer recommendations and verify concentration with a refractometer. Use clean water for mixing (deionized, distilled, or softened water is recommended when available).
Storage & Handling
- Store away from strong acids
- Suitable for storage in unlined carbon steel tanks and drums
- For long-term storage of concentrate (> 12 months), use stainless steel, aluminum, or lined carbon steel (vinyl, epoxy, or phenolic linings)
Container Size
1 Gallon Jug (additional sizes available)
Safety & Compliance
- OSHA HazCom: Not classified as hazardous
- Transport: Not regulated as dangerous goods
- Prop 65: No listed substances
Questions & Answers
What is Chemworld NexFrost™ HD used for?
Chemworld NexFrost™ HD is an inhibited propylene glycol heat transfer fluid used in closed-loop systems such as HVAC chilled water and heating loops, snow-melt systems, ice rinks, solar thermal systems, and industrial heat exchangers.
Is Chemworld NexFrost™ HD a concentrate or premix?
This product is typically supplied as a concentrate and is intended to be diluted with water. Typical operating ranges are 30%–60% by volume depending on the required freeze protection.
What freeze protection can I expect?
Freeze protection depends on concentration. A 50% solution provides freeze protection to approximately -25°F (-32°C). Always confirm concentration with a refractometer and follow system requirements.
Does Chemworld NexFrost™ HD protect against corrosion?
Yes. Chemworld NexFrost™ HD contains corrosion inhibitors and is designed to protect common system metals. It provides protection for cast iron, carbon steel, copper, and brass up to 325°F and aluminum components up to 190°F.
Is Chemworld NexFrost™ HD suitable for food or beverage applications?
For systems requiring incidental food-contact considerations, use the Chemworld NexFrost™ (non-HD) series designed for those applications. Chemworld NexFrost™ HD is positioned for industrial heat transfer performance in demanding service.
Is this product regulated for shipping?
Chemworld NexFrost™ HD is not regulated as dangerous goods for transport by DOT, IATA, or IMDG.
How should I store Chemworld NexFrost™ HD?
Store away from strong acids. Unlined carbon steel tanks and drums are suitable for normal storage. For storing concentrate longer than 12 months, stainless steel, aluminum, or lined carbon steel (vinyl, epoxy, or phenolic) is recommended.
Can I mix Chemworld NexFrost™ HD with other glycols or inhibitors?
Mixing products can reduce inhibitor performance and complicate freeze-point control. If converting a system, drain and flush before filling. If you have an existing fluid in place, contact us for compatibility guidance.
