Propylene Glycol Heat Transfer Fluid – Chemworld NexFrost HD 5 Gallon

Chemworld NexFrost™ HD is an industrial-grade propylene glycol–based heat transfer fluid formulated for closed-loop cooling and heating systems that require dependable freeze protection and long-term corrosion control. Its advanced inhibitor package, antifoam additives, and identifying dye support stable system performance in demanding thermal applications.

Designed for professional HVAC and process environments, Chemworld NexFrost™ HD is well suited for systems operating across wide temperature ranges where equipment reliability and fluid longevity are critical.

Performance Advantages

  • Inhibited propylene glycol formulation for industrial heat transfer systems
  • Corrosion protection for common metals found in closed-loop equipment
  • Supports cast iron, carbon steel, copper, and brass components up to 325°F
  • Compatible with aluminum components up to 190°F
  • Corrosion performance aligned with ASTM D1384 test criteria (ASTM D3306 limits)
  • Dyed fluid for improved system identification and leak visibility
  • Non-hazardous and non-regulated for transportation

Common Uses

  • Commercial and industrial HVAC chilled water loops
  • Hydronic heating and snow-melt systems
  • Ice rink and refrigeration brine circuits
  • Solar thermal heat transfer installations
  • Process cooling and industrial heat exchangers

Mixing Guidelines

Chemworld NexFrost™ HD is supplied as a concentrate and should be blended with water to achieve the desired level of freeze protection. Typical operating concentrations range from 20% to 60% by volume.

A 50% solution provides freeze protection down to approximately -25°F (-32°C). Confirm final concentration using a refractometer and follow equipment manufacturer recommendations.

Storage Considerations

  • Store in a cool, dry area away from strong acids
  • Unlined carbon steel containers are suitable for standard storage durations
  • For extended storage of concentrate beyond 12 months, stainless steel, aluminum, or lined carbon steel (vinyl, epoxy, or phenolic linings) is recommended

Container Size

5 Gallon Pail — ideal for service contractors, maintenance teams, and small system fills

Safety & Regulatory Information

  • OSHA Hazard Communication: Not classified as hazardous
  • Shipping status: Not regulated by DOT, IATA, or IMDG
  • No California Prop 65 listed substances

Frequently Asked Questions

What systems are best suited for Chemworld NexFrost™ HD?

Chemworld NexFrost™ HD is designed for closed-loop heat transfer systems including HVAC chilled water and heating loops, snow-melt installations, ice rinks, solar thermal systems, and industrial process cooling applications.

Is the 5 gallon pail supplied as a premix?

No. Chemworld NexFrost™ HD in the 5 gallon pail is supplied as a concentrate. It must be diluted with water prior to use based on the freeze protection requirements of the system.

How do I determine the correct concentration?

Final concentration should be selected based on required freeze protection and system design. Typical use ranges from 30%–60% by volume. Verify concentration using a refractometer after mixing.

Does this product help prevent corrosion?

Yes. Chemworld NexFrost™ HD contains a corrosion inhibitor package formulated to protect cast iron, carbon steel, copper, brass, and aluminum components within their respective temperature limits.

Is Chemworld NexFrost™ HD appropriate for food-related applications?

For systems where incidental food contact is a consideration, the Chemworld NexFrost™ (non-HD) product line is recommended. Chemworld NexFrost™ HD is intended for industrial heat transfer performance.

Are there any shipping restrictions?

Chemworld NexFrost™ HD is not classified as hazardous and is not regulated as dangerous goods for domestic or international transport.

Can Chemworld NexFrost™ HD be added to an existing glycol system?

For best results, systems should be drained and flushed before conversion. Mixing with other glycol products may reduce inhibitor effectiveness. Contact us if you need compatibility guidance.
